Many bloggers are jumping on the video blogging bandwagon. Video blogging has a lot of advantages over text-based blogging, and this new blogging technology is catching on all over the blog world. Video blogs tend to grab the attention of web surfers simply because they can see who is talking and it is easier than reading, but it does have it’s disadvantages as well!
I have started to notice allot more blogs offer video blogging, however it is not my favorite at all for several reasons. Not just because I hate do not adjust well to change, but because I am not sure of the optimization that video blogging can offer a blogger. Not to mention, I can not stand a slow loading site or blog. Every video blog I have ever been on, loads so slow I can not stand it.
Many bloggers say that video blogging gets their readers excited and the more enthusiastic viewers are about a blog, the quicker the word of mouth spreads, and the more traffic the blog will get.
There are several disadvantages to video blogging, it is not as simple as it may seem. Hosting a v-blog requires quite a bit of server space, which can make it difficult to get started, if your not on a hosting account with allot of file space. Updating a v-blog can be much more work, becuase the file sizes are larger, so the transfer time takes much longer than the standard wordpress button press. In addition, web surfers sometimes get frustrated with the slow loading time of many video blogs.
I personally would not opt for video blogging even though some may love it. I would however, create some nice videos to toss up on YouTube for viral marketing reasons. I also like my Google Adsense to much to risk non content blogs.
Would I recommend video blogging for newbie bloggers? I’m not real sure to be honest. I think that whether you opt for a video blog or not depends on what kind of niche you want to cover and how much time you can devote to video blogging. Before you decide to pursue a video blog, consider if there is an easier way for you to get your message across.
