A few weeks ago, I wrote about using MySpace as a social networking tool. I got many replies from people who use MySpace and others who just hate it.
After allowing myself a few weeks to use it as a social network and test the waters, I must say I think MySpace is just as great of a tool as FaceBook. For the last month I have worked to connect with fellow home business owners and wahm’s. Not to mention, I joined some groups and participate in conversations.
I was able to connect with many people who like me, are business minded and open to learning new ways to market their business. So, my trial worked, the traffic picked up here, I have had many inquiries about advertising, and have got to chat with some great people in the home business field.
If you are not using MySpace as a professional tool, I highly recommend you give it a try. You have nothing to lose as it does not cost anything to use the social network.
I do have some great pointers for MySpace users, who want to use it for business.
Do not go overboard with your layout. You may think it is cute to have glitters every where and music, but a professional or business minded individual interested in your products or service is not going to find it amusing. Your profile is representing your business, so keep that in mind while selecting a MySpace layout to use. Have 2 MySpace accounts. One for business and one for family & friends. Make your business profile professional and do what you wish with your personal one. Keep it personal. Take the time to email people who add you as a friend, let them know a bit about you and encourage networking together. When people realize you are a real person, not just a spammer, they will want to talk with you to learn more. Do not add to may graphics. You want your profile on MySpace to load fast. The more you add, the slower it will load. Many people will not wait around to see what you can offer. (I admit, slow loading profiles tick me off, and I leave) Create your own group. Create a group on a topic you are interested in. Others will join and open the doors to more networking for your business. Keep in mind while using MySpace as a social networking tool that you want to attract like-minded individuals.
